St. Vincent and the Grenadines will replace deteriorated jetties and breakwaters on an island harbour as part of a port expansion to boost tourism, a marine official said Wednesday. The forested island of Bequia, which is a popular stop for yacht owners, will also have a landing wharf replaced with a government allocation of EC$200,000 (US$75,000; euro 54,950), Port Manager Paul Kirby said.
The harbour restoration on the island 10 miles (15 kilometres) south of St. Vincent is expected to be finished by August in Bequia, the largest of the Grenadines islands.
