Rescue the cricket
published: Tuesday | April 10, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

We in the West Indies really don't want the Cricket World Cup to fail, and would like to see the organisers do the following to save it:

1. Drop the average ticket price to US$10 and give previously purchased ticket holders a discount.

2. Get the school kids involved, let them in free or for a nominal fee! Cricket is dying in the region, this is a great opportunity to give the sport a much-needed boost.

3. Free up the rice and peas! We know the vendors at the games are taking a beating, but you need those seats filled.

4. Allow repeat entries. This one entry thing can't work; use UV ink to stamp the arm to allow patrons to come and go!

With the short Easter break, we have time to implement the above recommendations and fill the grounds in true West Indian style (and even vibes up our comatose cricket team too)!

I am, etc.,
