published: Tuesday | April 3, 2007

Police National are one game away from advancing to the National Premier League (NPL) play-offs following their 2-0 victory over Mountain View in the Kingston and St. Andrew Football Association (KSAFA)/Jamaica National (JN) Super League on Saturday at the Excelsior High School.

With one game remaining in the season, Police National lead the points standings with 46, three ahead of Meadhaven United (43) who were held to a 1-1 draw by Santos (29). The Jamaica Defence Force (41) are in third spot after they were held to 1-1 draw by fourth place Cavalier (31).

Looking forward to the game

Calvin Lewis, coach of Police National, said his team is looking forward to their final game against Greenwich Town on Saturday.

"The team is in very high spirits right now and everybody is confident. We will face Greenwich Town in our last game on Saturday and they are a team that is trying to avoid relegation," said Lewis.

"We have been creating chances and scoring goals throughout the season, so we just have to carry it over in our final game against them.

"The high points in Saturday's game were that we defended very well and we created a lot of chances. We will continue to do our regular weekly preparation because we have a set programme."

In other games, Constant Spring (22) defeated Duhaney Park (25) 2-1, Bull Bay (31) registered a 3-1 victory over bottom place Barbican (12) and Greenwich Town (18) played to a 0-0 draw with Maverley-Hughenden (20).

In Major League action, Real Mona defeated Brown's Town 2-1, Olympic Gardens whipped Shortwood United 4-1, Cooreville Gardens stopped Pembroke Hall 3-1, Elleston Flats got by University of Technology (UTech) 2-0 and Central Kingston and Rockfort played to 1-1 draw.
