Reports of poisoning
This latest development surrounding the death of Woolmer comes on the heels of reports in the international media that Mr. Woolmer may have been poisoned.
One report suggested that Woolmer was given aconite, an ancient drug which causes asphyxiation.
A team of homicide detectives, numbering about four, assigned to Scotland Yard was also scheduled to arrive in the island yesterday.
"They are going to review the case thus far," said Mr. Angell, director of communications for the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
Vacation postponed
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mark Shields' vacation, that takes effect this Thursday, has been postponed.
"Sincethe Woolmer case, this has been changed," said Mr. Angell.
Investigators have collected at least 39 statements so far from persons who were on the 12th floor of the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston, where Mr. Woolmer's body was discovered in a room on March 18.
Recently, two Pakistani diplomats, First Secretary Zahid Chaudhri and Counsellor Shahid Ahmed were flown from Washington D.C. to Jamaica to have talks with the investigators.
