TO BREAK a national record three times in two weeks is no easy feat.

Ask Kingston College (KC) Keiron Stewart and he will tell you that hard work is what paid off for him.

On yesterday's final day of the 2007 ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships, Stewart, for the second time in two days, broke the national junior 110m hurdles record.

Despite getting a bad start, Stewart, a cut above the rest, fought his way through at the halfway mark and, though crossing the final hurdle behind Calabar's Warren Weir, he was able to run 13.53 for the new national record.

His time bettered Friday's preliminary round run of 13.71 to erase the Champs record of 13.79 held by former Calabar athlete Dwight Thomas.

The time also beat the national record of 13.71 Stewart set at the CARIFTA Trials two weekends ago.

"It was a very good run," he said after the race. "I lost my focus a bit at the start but during the race I came back and made up for it in the end," said the national junior representative.

As to how far Stewart plans to take the record, he said" "I don't know".

"I just always do my best and hopeful my best will do it," he said.

Stewart also won the boys' 400m hurdles in 51.42.
