THE EDITOR, Sir:I watched and listened in total bewilderment as a teacher prophesied "terrorism" in the lives of some of her students at the Kingston Technical High School last Thursday.
Interestingly, the said teacher is a seemingly well-put together lady, steeped in black consciousness. Admittedly, on the one hand, indiscipline in school is certainly a matter of immediate concern to the teaching profession. But far too often, the child who is not willing to exert his/her self above measure is left behind. What is called for is that teachers must nurture such students, especially at Kingston Technical High, against the backdrop that indiscipline has become a serious cancer growing within our schools and causing huge deterioration, in one way or another, in the education provision for those students who really want to learn.
In view of all this "indiscipline" teaching is a demanding and complex task which takes place in a world dominated by change, uncertainty and increasing complexity.
I am, etc.,
