Port Royal, Aqua in semi-finals

Port Royal Bulls and Aqua Youths booked their spots in the semi-finals of NPG Southern Conference Basketball competition after quarter-final victories over Waterhouse Blazers and Eastern Pistons, respectively, at the University of The West Indies (UWI) Courts on Sunday.

In the opening game, Port Royal defeated mid-season finals runners-up Waterhouse Blazers 61-58 to take the series 2-1, while Aqua Youths beat Eastern Pistons 65-56 for a 2-0 series win.

Paul Brown led the way for Port Royal with a game-high 24 points, 18 rebounds and six blocks. He received good support from Demetrius Wade and Dovian Wade, who both finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Raymond Layne (13 points) and Kirk Shaw (15) were the top scorers for Waterhouse Blazers.

In the other semi-final, Aqua Youths' Tyrone Fairweather led the way for his team with a game-high 20 points.

He got good support from Osmond Faruharson (15 points). Andrew Goulbourne, with 16 points, was the top shooter for the Pistons.

Meanwhile, Selassie Gardens kept their semi-final hopes alive when they defeated Meadows All Stars 43-38 to level their series at 1-1. Ricardo Willis was the top scorer for Selassie Gardens with 11 points. Christopher Jennings scored a game-high 12 points for Meadows All Stars.
