ST. JAGO'S Yohan Blake and Holmwood Technical's Schillonie Calvert won the senior boys and girls? sprints at yesterday's Carifta Games Trials at the Stadium East complex.

Blake took the boys? Under-20 event in 10.41 seconds ahead of Kemar Marsden of Wolmer's (10.65), while Calvert won the girls? equivalent in 11.59 ahead of St. Thomas Tech?s Carrie Russell (11.72) and Danielle Jeffrey of Immaculate (11.80).

Under-17 event

Velma Morant of Vere Tech (12.20) took the Under-17 girls' event in front of Antonique Campbell of Herbert Morrison (12.31) while Dexter Lee of Herbert Morrison (10.59) won the boys? event with Jermaine Brown of Bridgeport coming in second (11.01).

In a competitive Under-20 400m hurdles, where the top four girls enjoyed personal best times, Andrea Reid of Holmwood (58.08) came out on top over Manchester High?s pair of Shana-Gaye Tracey (58.17) and Judith Riley (58.44) and Edwin Allen?s Andrea Sutherland (58.54).

Dwayne Extol of Wolmer?s (55.23) took the boys? Under-17 400m hurdles ahead of Kavean Smith of Jamaica College (56.23) while Lanice Hall of Vere (43.58) took the girls? 300m hurdles ahead of Manchester High?s Sidoney Brown (44.42).

Riker Hylton of St. Jago (52.08) took the boys? Under-20 400m hurdles over Keiron Stewart of KC (52.28).

The boys? Under-17 800m produced a surprise when JC?s Class Three athlete Waquar DaCosta (1:55.37) beat Donahue Williams of KC (1:55.38).

Campion?s Theon O?Connor (1:52.28) won the Under-20 boys event ahead of Calabar?s Andre Thomas (1:53.18).
