WESTERN BUREAU:

Over 150 revellers turned out to support the Trelawny Homecoming Ball at the Starfish Beach Resort last Friday night.

Held under the distinguished patronage of the Most Hon. Professor Kenneth Hall and Her Excellency Mrs. Hall, Trelawny citizens from as far as the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States of America partied all night to the sounds of Bevon 'Bim' Green and the celebrated A.J. "Boots" Brown, concluding 10 days of Homecoming activities.

The Homecoming Ball was a precursor to the two-day 25,000-strong Brand Trelawny celebrations in Water Square, Falmouth and the ninth ICC Cricket World Cup opening ceremony at the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium.

Bent on transforming the 18th century commercial capital, into the 21st century sporting arena, the Homecoming team led by Falmouth's Florence Logan and New York's Patrick Beckford, commenced the period of activities with a church service at the 180-year-old, William Knibb Baptist Church on Sunday, March 4.

Welcome cocktail reception

Satisfied with the blessings received on Sunday, the celebration moved to Glistening Waters on Monday, with a welcome cocktail reception by Custos Roylan Barrett and Councillor Jonathan Bartley, Mayor of Falmouth.

Domino tournaments at Falmouth's R&B Lounge, Falmouth Resort and Vee Barnett's Lawn, Clarke's Town as well as cricket matches in Warsop added tremendous excitement to Trelawny Homecoming 2007.
