Walker and Prendergast voted top D2 athletes
published: Thursday | March 8, 2007

TWO JAMAICANS, Wilbert Walker and Davita Prendergast, have been voted the South Central region's top Division Two indoor Athletes of the Year.

Walker, of Jamaican Victor Thomas-coached Lincoln University, was the top men's Field Athlete of the Year.

The former University of Technology and Morant Bay athlete is the defending NCAA indoor and outdoor champion in the long and triple jumps.

A sophomore from St. Thomas, Walker again leads all Division Two triple jumpers this season.

Meanwhile, Prendergast, also of Lincoln, was the women's Track Athlete of the Year.

Prendergast, formerly of St. Elizabeth Technical, was one of the keys to Lincoln's team title at the 2006 NCAA Division Two Indoor Track and Field Championships, and she's even faster this season.

Prendergast, a sophomore from Westmoreland, has the division's fastest times in the 200m (23.91) and 400m (53.59).
