T&T, Barbados race for second title
published: Thursday | February 22, 2007

POINTE-A-PIERRE, Trinidad (CMC):

WITH ONE title in hand this season, both Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados will be seeking to add a second when the contest in the Carib Beer International Challenge final at Guaracara Park starts today.

A keen battle is anticipated in the five-day match which is repeat of last's year final at the same venue.

Trinidad Tobago were crowned KFC Cup champions in the regional limited-overs championship last weekend in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and will aim to retain the Challenge theyconvincingly won last season.

Barbados, who emerged as Carib Beer Cup champions two weeks ago following four victories in five matches, are trying to achieve a second victory over Trinidad and Tobago this season to complete an outstanding double.

The hosts are bolstered by the inclusion of West Indies captain Brian Lara and all-rounder Dwayne Bravo.

They were named yesterday in a 16-man squad which does not feature former West Indies fast bowler Mervyn Dillon.

Squads:

TRINIDAD & TOBAGO - Daren Ganga (captain), Lendl Simmons, Adrian Barath, Dwayne Bravo, Brian Lara, Jason Mohammed, Kieron Pollard, Sherwin Ganga, Denesh Ramdin, Gibran Mohammed, Richard Kelly, Rayad Emrit, Dave Mohammed, Amit Jaggernauth, Ravi Rampaul, Sanjiv Gooljar.

BARBADOS - Ryan Hinds (captain), Dale Richards, Wayne Blackman, Dwayne Smith, Floyd Reifer, Alcindo Holder, Shamarh Brooks, Kevin Stoute, Patrick Browne, Ryan Austin, Tino Best, Pedro Collins, Corey Collymore, Fidel Edwards.
