THE EDITOR, Sir:
The violent treatment meted out to men caught in a "compromising position" at a pharmacy in Tropical Plaza, Constant Spring Road, is of great concern to us.
We say a resounding 'no' to this type of behaviour. We urge the public to refrain from the use of violence as a means of resolving issues and concerns. We stand against violence in all its manifestations whether it is against children, women, policemen, homosexuals or others. Violence is never to be used as a solution to our problems. Those who participate in violence and those who encourage violence are wrong so to do.
We want to advise the public not to take the law into their own hands. In cases where men are caught in a "compromising position", the approach should be to call the police and to allow them to deal with the matter, hopefully in a professional manner.
Violence is always to be condemned. It is destructive and will get us nowhere as a country. Let us desist from violent ways remembering that we were all made in the image of God. It is, therefore, our duty and responsibility to treat each other with respect and courtesy.
I am, etc.,
