Waterhouse aim to cool bubbling Seba
published: Wednesday | February 21, 2007

Kwesi Mugisa, Staff Reporter

PREMIER LEAGUE heavyweights Waterhouse and Reno will kick off the second round of the Red Stripe Champions Cup when they tackle fellow NPL sides Seba and August Town in two of five first-leg games scheduled for today.

Things have not been a bed of roses in recent times for Wray and Nephew Premier League champions Waterhouse and the last couple of league games have seen them stumble from the top spot to third.

The Drewsland team will certainly hope for a reversal of fortunes in the knockout competition when they take on a resurgent Seba at the Waterhouse Stadium at 4:00 p.m.

The last time the teams met, two weeks ago, it was Seba who handed Waterhouse a bitter 2-1 defeat at Catherine Hall. Seba will be looking to secure a similar advantage in today's first leg and Waterhouse will have to be on their guard.

Coming off a 2-1 win at home to August Town the last time those teams met, little has gone wrong for red-hot Reno recently and they will be bubbling with confidence when they face August Town at 3:30 p.m.at the UWI Bowl.

In fact, even though they are playing at home, August Town will find Reno formidable opposition as they have lost to the Westmoreland team on two occasions already this season.

Last season's semi-finalists Portmore United will certainly be favourites to secure a first-leg advantage when they host mid-table Super League team Duhaney Park in a 3:30 p.m. encounter at Ferdie Neita Park.

Montpelier will be looking to get the ball rolling on what they hope will be the first upset of the Cup when they host struggling Premier League outfit Wadadah at 3:30 p.m.

Village United will hope to get their second-round fixture off to a solid start when they tackle Star Cosmos at the Elliston Wakeland Centre.

The return legs will take place in a week's time.
