published: Friday | February 16, 2007

Valerie Juggan-Brown, group managing director, Guards-man Group Limited, present keys for the new armoured trucks to Mr. Warren and Mr. Cowan, aromured truck drivers. Looking on (from left) are Renee Menzies-McCallum, general manager; Craig Morrison, managing director; and Peter Van-Whervin, operations manager for Guardsman Armoured Limited.

Guardsman Armoured Limited has received the first eight of 12 new armoured trucks to supplement its existing fleet of 60, a significant investment of about US$900,000.

Guardsman Armoured, with branches in Kingston, Mandeville, Ocho Rios and Montego Bay, is the largest armoured courier company serving Jamaica. Since 1965, the management has committed to provide secure and reliable transportation "of valuables and treasury management services to the banking and business community".

The arrival of the new diesel "ensures the continuation of our programme of upgrading and improving our service to our many valued clients across Jamaica," said the company in a statement. "With the addition of these new armoured trucks at a cost of US$75,000 each, the Guardsman Armoured fleet has now been converted to approximately 70 per cent diesel, ensuring that our service continues to be even more fuel-efficient and cost effective."

Stating that the remaining four vehicles are expected to arrive in another two months, the company said, "Guardsman Armoured Ltd. is offering a secure, quality option for the transportation of cash and valuables which continues to surpass international standards of service and provides Jamaica with the highest level of excellence in such service".
