Manley, JC and Eltham lead the way

TWO-TIME DEFENDING cham-pions Eltham, Norman Manley and Jamaica College (JC) have emerged as the top teams in the Grace Shield Premier League.

All three teams, Group A winners Eltham (29 points), Group B winners Jamaica College (27) and Norman Manley (25), have qualified for the semi-finals following Tuesday's and Wednesday's final-round matches and now await the winners of today's A League semi-finals.

The Premier League semi-finals will comprise six teams, four Premeir League sides and the two A League finalists.

However, the fourth Premier League team, which could either be Kingston College (KC) or St. Catherine, will be decided in the boardroom as they await the Inter-secondary Schools' Sports Associa-tion's ruling on the unplayed game between St. Catherine (25 points) and Mona in which the former was said to have failed to prepare its pitch.

Meanwhile, in the two-day First Global A League semi-finals which start today, José Marti entertain Dunoon at the school's ground at Twickenham Park while Ardenne tackle Jonathan Grant at Ardenne Road.

Matches are scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m.

Meanwhile, Norman Manley defeated Meadowbrook by 101 runs at Meadowbrook yesterday to secure their semi berth.

Norman Manley first scored 177 with Rohan Williams, 61, leading the away against Adrian Smith (3-29) and Robert Williams (3-24).

In reply, Meadowbrook were dismissed with 77. Spinners Winston Walker (6-30) and Jason Russell (4-11) took the wickets.

On Tuesday, Eltham scored 81 for four to beat Waterford, 77 all out, by six wickets; Kingston College (KC), 228 for eight declared, beat Penwood, 97, by 131 runs while St. Catherine, 147, defeated St. George's College, 57, by 90 runs.
