St Jago poised for title
published: Monday | February 12, 2007

Kwesi Mugisa, Staff Reporter

Wolmer's Boy's must dig deep if they are to avoid losing a second straight final, when they face St. Jago in game two of the ISSA-KFC Southern Conference final at 3:00 p.m. today at St. Jago.

The bridesmaids role has certainly stuck with the Heroes Circle basketball team for the last couple of years as they developed the uncanny knack of falling at the final hurdle.

Once again they find themselves in a sticky situation, having lost game one, a 53-42 defeat at the hands of St. Jago on their Mico home court, they must find a way to win if they are going to keep their title hopes alive.

This is not a strange situation for the team to be in. They found themselves in a similar situation last year and after losing game one to last year's champions St. Catherine, another home loss, the team managed to stun the champs at home in game two only to lose a decisive game three at the National Stadium.

St. Jago have lost only one game at home all season and that was to St. Catherine. On the other hand, Wolmer's have not found a way to beat the St. Jago team all season as the Monk Street school, which heads into this game 2-0 on meetings this season, also has a victory over Wolmer's in the competition's second round.
