MVP Track Club helps promote safer sex

Some 7,500 persons, including world 100 metres record holder Asafa Powell, are to be tested for HIV/AIDS by the Ministry of Health as part of activities to mark Safer Sex Week this week.

The week will be observed under the theme: 'Safe Sex: Good Sex = Rubbers and a Test'.

Several activities have been planned to observe Safer Sex Week, which include testing Powell and other members of the MVP Track Club at the University of Technology today.

Free hiv testing

On Wednesday, there will be free HIV testing at Mandela Park, St. Andrew, and at the St. William Grant Park, downtown Kingston, on Friday.

Meanwhile, the ministry will be officially commissioning 18 condom vending machines, 15 of which have been installed in hotels islandwide as part of Safer Sex Week activities in the tourism sector.

The machines have been installed at Beaches Boscobel, Sunset Jamaica Grande, Sandals Grande Ocho Rios, Sandals MoBay, The Gloustershire, Sunset Beach Resort, Sandals Negril, Sandals Whitehouse, Beaches Sandy Bay, Negril Tree House, Point Village and Knutsford Court hotels.
