Praises for King
published: Monday | February 12, 2007

GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC):

Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Dr. Edwin Carrington, has paid tribute to distinguished Jamaican and Caribbean diplomat, Angela King, who died last week.

"It is with a sense of profound sadness that I have learnt of the passing of Angela King, a distinguished Jamaican, a standard-bearer for the Caribbean in the international arena, and a citizen of the world," he said in a statement.

King, who was special adviser to the United Nations secretary-general on gender issues and the advancement of women, succumbed to cancer at the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
