Knight tops Guardian Life girls' tennis champs
published: Saturday | February 10, 2007

The Guardian Life All Girls Open Junior Tennis Championships, the first of its kind, came to a close at the Liguanea Club recently with a total of 60 juniors having taken part in the event.

In the girls' under-18 category, talent squad member Shaneka Knight had an easy time in that final as she got by Sarit Ashkenazi 6-1, 6-0.

In the girls' 16 and under event, Amanda Chin also romped to a straight-set victory for that title as she swept by Viva Levee 6-1, 6-4.

The girls' under-14 event proved to be a bit more competitive as rivals Siquena Sinclair and Shantal Blackwood squared off in that final.

On this occasion, it was Sinclair who emerged victorious as she won the first set 6-3, before battling to 7-6 in the second and then winning 7-3 in the tie-breaker.

The Guardian Life All-Girls Open Junior Tennis Championships was the first tournament exclu-sively for girls in all three age group categories.
