Questionable crime plans
published: Monday | January 29, 2007

THE EDITOR, Sir:

HOW MANY crime plans is this Government going to make? Are we being ruled by kids in a kindergarten class or by men who have the brains of those who fly these great supersonic jets?

One would have thought the Government would have devised a master plan for crime in conjunction with a top security team. They would have sat down and formulated a plan covering the entire island. They would map out the trouble spots in each parish; examine the trends in crime in each parish, and then make appropriate plans to target each spot should there be a flare-up.

How many people must be murdered before the Government knows that too many have been murdered? How many years must the Jamaican people exist before they are allowed to live in peace and safety? How many years must the people in Jamaica's inner cities exist before they are free from the strangle of criminal gangs?

Finally, how many years must a government exist before it can be considered a real government and rule effectively?

These answers, my friend, are blowing in the wind while Jamaica gradually dies as a nation.

I am, etc.,

P. LOGAN

Duncans P.O., Trelawny
