The team of John Powell and Michael March who had lodged a protest with the officials following last weekend's JMMC/Petcom Rally, was promoted to second place after their protest was upheld.

On Monday, The Gleaner carried the provisional results of the rally, with Gary Gregg/Hugh Hutchinson in front, followed by Doug Gore/Mark Nelson and Jeffrey Panton/Justin Morin in second and third, respectively.

But the official results sent to The Gleaner late Wednesday evening by the JMMC, now shows that Gregg/Hutchinson maintained their position, with Powell/March being the runners-up. The two former champions, Panton/Morin and Gore/Nelson, are third and fourth, respectively.

They were all presented with their awards at the presentation ceremony held at the Hilton hotel on Monday night.

"It was exciting, fast and super competitive," was how president of the Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club (JMMC), Errol Anderson, described the event.

Anderson, who was the opening marshall at the event, also believes that this was one of the better rallies. The highest placed overseas team was the Barbados pair of Barry Gayle and Ryan Rodriguez, who finished in seventh place.

According to the JMMC results, they were followed by Harold Morley/Geoff Goddard of the United Kingdom and Neil Armstrong/Barry Ward of Barbados, who were eighth and ninth, respectively.
