The recent confirmation of Burchell Whiteman as the new Jamaican High Commissioner to London was welcomed yesterday by one diaspora group from the United Kingdom.
Sylbourne Sydial, founder of Facilitators For a Better Jamaica (FFBJ), a United Kingdom-based diaspora group aligned to
the the United Kingdom's opposition Conservative Party, said Mr. Whiteman's appointment would help advance the community in that country.
"His knowledge of the grass roots due to his political experience will be welcomed by Jamaicans in the British diaspora as he is considered a safe pair of hands and is an appointment with which we are not disappointed," said Mr. Sydial.
