WESTERN BUREAU:

The view of the lights of the Second City provided the perfect backdrop for Montego Bay's transportation mogul Roy Anderson's party to wine and dine his most important clients and close friends two Friday nights ago.

The managing director of the Destination Management Company (DMC) Glamour Tours joined with long-time partners, the elegant Half Moon Hotel, by opening up his fabulously appointed Mango Walk home to 14 meetings and special events planners from the elite U.S.-based Krisam Group in what he dubbed a special 'Meet-the-People' party.

"They wanted to see how Jamaicans live and I find that a compliment," said Anderson, as he gave the group a tour of his home.

Krisam, which handles only luxury groups, represents 220 properties in the Caribbean and the United States, with Half Moon being its only Jamaican resort and Glamour Tours their only DMC.

Their counterpart, Global Events Partners (GEP), is one of the most respected meeting planners in the U.S.

well exposed

Not only did the visitors sample the interior of a Jamaican home but they were exposed to Boston Corner jerk pork and chicken and steamed roast fish by chef extra-ordinaire, Clifton Harris, while Montego Bay's best, Rose Lee, catered to all other needs.

Anderson's menu was designed to titillate the appetite and create awareness of the mind-blowing effects of the Jamaican curried goat, rice and peas, roasted breadfruit, and ending with sweet potato pudding.

Over the three days that the group stayed in Jamaica, they swam with the dolphins at Dolphin Cove, rafted on the Martha Brae and rode at Trina Delisser's stables.

The Half Moon and Glamour Tours team who were part of the Meet-the-People group included Myrtle Dwyer, Wordsworth Watson, Dave Warmington and Jennifer Stewart, while president of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce, Pauline Reid, Denton and Valrie Campbell, Brian Boothe and Roy and Joyce Delisser made up the friends list.
