The Sugar Company of Jamaica made candy of the Department of Correctional Services (DCS), beating them 41-27 at the Leila Robinson courts on Thursday.
As a result, Sugar will play National Commercial Bank 'A' in the Senior League final of the Business House Netball Association divisional league competition next week Saturday.
From the start of the match, DCS appeared to be in trouble and seemed a different team. Their main problem, however, was in the circle as Sandra Goldson (goal shoot) failed to do her job.
Goldson made two from three attempts while Natalie McKenzie, playing both goal attack and goal shooter at different intervals, made a total of 25 from 42 attempts.
AT THEIR BEST
In the circle, Sugar was at their best with the shooting pair of Stacey-Ann Allen, 26 from 30 attempts, and Akelia Henry, 14 from 31, dominating play.
Coach Jennifer Brown of Sugar said: "We were prepared for this match. Coming into the match we knew what to do, so we stuck to the plan and had a great game."
Christopher Smart, coach of the DCS team, said: "They looked more determined. We started out reasonably well but after finishing the second half with Sugar leading 12-24, we knew it would be difficult to get back," he said.
OUTPLAYED
In the other semi-final match, National Commercial Bank (NCB) 'A' outplayed Cable and Wireless (C&W) 'A,' 66-11. Eleen Williams 42/51 and Patricia Reid 24/40 scored for NCB 'A,' while C&W's points were tallied by Novelette Lewis-White, 7/13 and Annette Walker sunk 4/9.
Super League action saw champion General Accident beating Jamaica Broilers 46-38 in one of the most exciting semi-final matches.
Oberon Pitterson, 38/45 and Nadine Bryan 8/16 scored for the winners, while Broilers got their goals from Lovena Parnell, 36/43, and Natasha Brown, 2/3.
Meanwhile, on the second court, Bank of Nova Scotia 'A' demolished RBTT 80-26.
For yet another year, the bank will meet the insurance company in the final on October 21st, mthe day when all the other finals will be played. Marsha Murphy 62/74, Viola Francis 13/19 and Nordia Brown 5/7 scored for the winners, while Shauna Lee Miller 16/21 and Trudy Ann Dawkins 10-15 accounted for RBTT's total.
