We must have confidence in God
published: Saturday | October 14, 2006

The Editor, Sir:

During or after this Heroes weekend, I'd like us to "truly" register in prayer our confidence in the "Eternal Father" in a time when there is a virtually "no confidence" in a society sub-cultured in violence. "Well, poor people fed up!" entertainer Bounty Killa confirmed long ago, yet I don't think we should be dancing about how fed up we are and get down on our knees and thank God for his mercies! "Justice, truth be ours for ever.." sing that along with, say, "Try Jah love" among many other positive songs.

As the words "give us vision lest we perish" chorus in hearts, let us think about the vision God gave to John recorded in Revelation 7 where he saw " four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree." (Verse 1). The Greek word for "winds" here is "animos" which without etymological confirmation - sounds awfully close to of the "animosity" that God is shielding us from.

So while we may have "no confidence" in men at times, we must have confidence in God and say "Yes , Lord , Yes, to your will and to your way". He's the best hope for the nation who can still bless our bi-partisan system even as we seek "justice, truth " midst the traffic of corruption not exclusive to any party. Things could be worse.

I am, etc.,
