It was all about the language of love on Monday evening as the French Ambassador Francis Hurtut hosted a reception at his residence on Hillcrest Avenue, St. Andew.
The reception was to signify the election of the new committee of the Jamaica Association of French Teachers (JAFT) and to say adieu to two Jamaicans heading to the country who will be English teaching assistants. JAFT was founded in 1974 as several teachers wanted to create an organisation that would both facilitate the interaction of teachers and students and organise events to develop students' love for French language and culture.
Involvements
The association works with various institutions including The University of the West Indies, The Alliance Francaise de la Jamaique, Shortwood Teachers College and Northern Caribbean University. The association hosts various activities including the now popular Service de Noel (Christmas carol service) Journée Française or French Day which takes place in April.
The teaching assistants are Rohan Robinson and Novadene Miller while the new President of JAFT is Desrine Cayol, a French teacher at Northern Caribbean University.
