The Editor, Sir:
The issue of crime and violence in is a major problem and only through a united effort can we tackle and overcome this massive crisis. This unity that I speak of, which in my opinion is mandatory was in no way evident in the 'peace walk' that recently took place in the Olympic Gardens community.
The public disagreement between the Political Ombudsman Rev. Herro Blair and Mr. Andrew Holness of the opposition Jamaica Labour Party was childish and untimely for want of a better word.
The purpose of the march was to showcase a united front in an effort to bring about an end to the political tension that has been plaguing the community. The mere fact that they could not settle their differences defeated the entire purpose of the march. I am disappointed in the action shown by both parties because if they as 'high' members of society who are supposed to be an example to those looking on cannot settle their differences, what will the other members of society do?
I am, etc.,
