published: Friday | September 29, 2006

WESTERN BUREAU:

A 57-year-old security guard of Tucker, Irwin in St. James was the victim of a fatal knife attack on Wednesday night, just metres from his home in the community.

He is Ezekiel Lawrence, formerly of Rapid Security in Montego Bay.

Mr. Lawrence is the 126th person to be killed in the parish since the start of the year.

The police, although tightlipped about the direction of their investigations, disclosed that suspects have been identified in connection with the killing.

collapsed at his door

The security guard was reportedly making his way home about 8:30 p.m., when he was attacked. He received stab wounds to the head, shoulder and neck. He ran and collapsed at the door of his house.

Gunmen had reportedly stole Mr. Lawrence's firearm earlier this month during a robbery at the supermarket where he was assigned. He was also beaten by the criminals.
