JAMAICA'S WOMEN will open their quest for title honours this afternoon when they tackle Guyana in the first match of the 2006 Caribbean Rugby 15s Championships at UWI, Mona Bowl.
The match is set to start at 4:00 p.m. and the Jamaican women, who finished second behind Trinidad and Tobago in 2004, are full of confidence.
Despite struggling financially, manager of the Jamaican team, Churine Crossman-Smith, said her team was expected to perform well.
"We have a good team but we are still not getting the support of corporate Jamaica," Crossman-Smith said.
"I hope corporate Jamaica will come out and support us because history will be created at the end of the Championships," she said.
Guyana's manager, Noel Adonis, said his side was ready for Jamaica.
"We are confident that our girls are going to put up a good performance," Adonis said.
"We are not underestimating our Jamaica colleagues but we believe it will be a good game of rugby," he ended.
