The Spanish Town Police have charged 26 year-old Christopher Oliver, an auditor, with the brutal murder of his mother Myrtle Oliver, 49 years old, and his
brothers, 17-year-old Omeil Oliver and 14 year-old Omar Oliver, all of Telfer Close, Twickenham Heights, St. Catherine.
Charges of three counts of murder and two counts of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm, were formally laid against Mr. Oliver yesterday.
According to the police, last Friday, around 10:30 p.m., Mr. Oliver went to the house of his mother and during a dispute he allegedly used a knife and a sledge hammer to bludgeon his mother to death along with his two younger siblings.
Found sleeping in a car
His sister and her three year-old child were also injured and were hospitalised.
He then escaped and was being sought by the lawmen. About 3:00 a.m. the following day he was found sleeping in a car off Brunswick Avenue in Spanish Town, St. Catherine. He has been in custody since.
The police said it is not yet known when he will appear in court to answer to the charges, as he is said to be in need of psychiatric treatment.
Last year there were 221 homicides in the St. Catherine North police division.
