WESTERN BUREAU:

The Trelawny Police Division is now mourning the loss of two colleagues, who were killed in a motor vehicle accident in Bog Walk, St. Catherine, yesterday morning.

The dead cops, constables Dawn Lewis and Phillip Harris of the Falmouth Police Station, were described by co-workers as "two fine police officers".

Grieving cops

When The Gleaner visited the station house yesterday, the tear-stained faces of police personnel bore testimony to their grief.

Father Michael Brown, Rector of the St. Peter's Anglican Church, and other community members were on hand offering moral support to the grieving lawmen and women.

"She was a kind person, no nonsense and she loved children," recalled Shanique Wilson, Constable Lewis' 13-year-old daughter.

The policewoman, who was from Granville, Trelawny, was remembered by her colleagues as a tomboy and fearless cop. She is survived by three children, Yanique, her eldest, who lives in the United States, Shanique and Andre.

Residents of nearby Daniel Town where Constable Harris resided with his wife Rosalee and 11-year-old son, Ronaldo, said he was an active community member and an avid cricketer.
