A season for prophets
published: Saturday | September 2, 2006

Jah Foresight, Contributor

Last week was the week for all the prophets. This was the time that everyone turned to the sky and admired the colour.

A lot of rustic people tripped trying to predict whether or not their crops would be flooded out. Please remember this is the land of wood and water!

A young lady told me that any man with a name like Ernesto must be a soft man. I told her that Jamaica is a land of water since most of the wood has been cut and the land left bare.

Nobody seems to be planting trees. Everyone wants to be concrete castle kings, but no one wants any shade in their yards. Some other folks were vexed since this is back-to-school season and they had to split the money to buy unwanted tin mackerels which competed with crayons.

Last weekend was the season for prophets. It was amazing to hear some ignorant people saying there was no storm on the ocean.

There was another set of people who wanted the storm to come and to mash up the place so that they can bawl out how the government is worthless.

I think they love when we become international beggars during our crisis, especially with the new Big Man, Mr. Venezuela.

Saved by prayers

I know that Jamaica was saved by prayers by a chosen few as usual. You must remember that the Rastafarian movement started here and we have the most churches and bars per square mile. We are indeed a very spiritual people. Ernesto had to flop as a soft man.

Was the country really ready for Ernesto? A lot of the drains wanted to be cleaned and some were cleaned. I looked at many drains and I did not see rocks, bushes and trees. I saw scandal bags, plastic and even old cars.

This means that somebody is real nasty. You can imagine if there were heavy showers, we would have seen them on television bawling out for justice.

Yesterday, I saw a man with a breakaway at this gate and he was blaming Portia. I took one look at his abode and I knew that he did not get any approval to build at same location.

Let us now look at the other little guys on the ocean and prepare ourselves for another anniversary of Ivan. Lotto tickets normally move slowly before a storm but tickets move briskly after the storm.

Of rats, cats

I read an article in The Gleaner that the city is gone to the rats. This is also taking place in the country areas as well. Last week, I was stepping into my bathroom and I met 'mus-mus' (mouse) at the door. I gave him one kick and he dropped in the bath. I hope that no one report me to the Society of Cruelty to Animals.

This morning while I was writing this article I was playing the Rats in the Kitchen album by Ub40. Lo and behold, it was a rat that was standing at my door. This island seems to be short of cats. I have been trying to get a kitten for so long. Are cats becoming extinct? It is a long time I have not seen a litter of kittens.

A puss is the best thing for these rats since they are natural predators. I would never recommend poison since a baby can pick it up and put it in his mouth. My rake this week is all about rats.

Why do deejays have to curse 'badwud' on stage? Is 'badwud' cussing a work of art? Has the law changed recently? If you start to disrespect Babylon in the worst way, do you expect a salute? Is it because you are the poor people governor, you think you have the same power as the Governor-General?

I think you should leave the language of Twi, to the Governor-General. He is a historian.

The numbers for last Saturday were 2, 4, 20,23, 26, 28 and the bonus ball was 32. The numbers for last Wednesday were 15, 21, 25, 33, 34, 35 and the bonus ball was 13.

There were three consecutive numbers of 33, 34 and 35.The jackpot is now at a whopping $26 million! I feel it will be growing next week.
