Having already secured the competition's knockout cup The Gleaner will take a shot at the corporate football double, when they face off against the National Water Commission in the KSAFA Business House League final at the Constant Spring Football field at 3:00 p.m. today.

The stage is set for what many expect to be a fierce battle of the former champions, The Gleaner, who last won in 2004, and the Water Commission, who wrapped up top honours just a year before.

"We really wanted to play The Gleaner, they stopped us in the semi-finals of the knockout cup and I don't want to use the word vengeance, but we are looking forward to getting back. at them," said Water Commission's coach David Laylor.

On that occasion The Gleaner, after going down to 10-men, showed a lot of determination to emerge 2-1 victors, but the Water Commission team was not at full strength.

Full strength

"We should be at full strength today, we had a few key players missing the last time we met and they being there for this fixture should make a difference, were're really looking forward to it," Laylor added.

Both teams qualified for the final in fairly comfortable fashion. The National Water Commission, led by captain Fitzroy Anglin, had little challenge as they put an end to defending champions Cement Company 2-1 in last week's semi-finals, while The Gleaner, led by a Fabian Nethersole hat-trick, were hardly pushed in their 5-1 thrashing of previous year's finalists, the University of the West Indies.

"We know that they will be gunning for us, we have a good rivalry and we slipped by them in the semi-finals, but we just have to worry about our game," said Gleaner coach Michael Williams.

"If we stay focused and work together as a team, I don't think we should have any problems," he added.
