Attorney-at-law and Manchester High School past student, Janice Grant-Taffe celebrated her "25th" birthday again recently.

The short programme was chaired by Grace Solas of Pan Caribbean Financial Services and the festivities took place in the gardens of the Taffe's residence.

The event was a blast despite the islandwide power cut which could not detract from nor darken the mood of the evening. Event planner Carla Rebhan Stewart ensured that the guests were constantly pampered with the fine fare prepared by culinary renowned chef, Carl Hart of the Pantry. Carla creatively designed the setting to reflect the many shades of purple and a favourite of the birthday girl and complimented by glistening overlays on arch table accentuated by oriental candle lamps in iridescent hues of purple.

Food

The food selections were created at live stations and the aromatic flavour filled the air adding to the mystic aura enhanced by the power outage. Menu offerings included: garlic shrimp kebabs, skewered charbroild medallion of fillet mignon, chicken teriyaki, broccoli quiche, pasta alfredo and garden salad. Desserts included: trifle (real style) and rich chocolate cake with a coffee flavoured frosting.

Among the many guests were: the birthday girl's husband Joe Taffe and daughter Jada-Rae Taffe, Sandra Forbes, Lunnette Grant, Isolyn Hinds, Andrea and Tony Reid, Coleen and Pauline Hinds and Grace Solas. Colleagues from the legal fraternity were: Kathryn Phipps, Dawn Satterswaite, Arthur Hamilton and Mrs. Justice Almarie Sinclair Haynes and Larry Haynes, Denise and Rev'd. Serrano Kitson.

Friends from days at the University of the West Indies, Mona campus included: Arnold and Esther McDonald, Yasmin and Karen Perry, Sharon and Ian Jackson. Also present were: Milverton Reynolds, Joy and Emile Spence, Marrynette and John Lee, Marva and Clement Bernard, Jennifer and Keith Goodison, Marjorie and Mr. Justice Roy Anderson, Grace Royal, Lorraine Wright Howard, Karl Anderson, Peter Martin, Adolph Raynor and Glorene Perry.
