Harrack in the Baltic states
published: Friday | August 18, 2006

Ceramic artist Norma Rodney Harrack is now participating in the prestigious Ceramic Exhibition and General Assembly of the Academy of International Ceramics in Riga, Latvia, which is being staged between August 12 and 24 with exhibition tours to Lithuania and Estonia.

It is envisaged that ceramic artists from 40 countries including those from the Baltic states will participate in the event. According to the Academy, the central objective of the event is to present internat-ional contemporary ceramics at the highest level, to encourage cultural cooperation through ceramics around the world.

Eternal Education

The theme of the exhibition which will be held at the National Art Museum of Latvia is 'Eternal Education.' This topic has been chosen because culture and art as educational factors in everyday life, together with professional art education, have always been and continue to be a substantial part of our lives.

Latvia is a relatively small country near the Baltic Sea with ancient history and traditions. It has many interesting castles from the Middle Ages, excellent architectural monuments and beautiful churches. Harrack expressed gratitude to Air Jamaica and GraceKennedy, whose kind sponsorship has made her trip to the Baltic state possible.
