A group of inner-city children participated in a summer photograph and computer skills workshops entitled: 'To Shoot or not to Shoot: Click is the answer'. Photographs taken by the children are now on display at Oakton Park Entertainment Centre, Half-Way Tree, St. Andrew. The exhibition closes tomorrow. The programme's main sponsor was Wayne Chen, head of Super Plus Food Stores, who provided all the cameras for the participants.

'Our communities are full of talent'

On behalf of the entire CLICK team we would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all the people at The Gleaner who made our trip on Wednesday, August 2, so interesting.

We got a lot of information from our tour guide. We learnt about how the newspaper gets money so that it can print the news every day. After we visited the classified section, we went to see editing and proofreading.

We looked at the printing press, and we were shown how the paper gets folded and packed. We never realised that the work at The Gleaner goes on 24 hours per day.

We had a delicious lunch that we all enjoyed and the Corporate Affairs and Marketing Manager, Karin Cooper, gave us all gifts. We got talks about the Youthlink which we read.

Now that we can take pictures, many of us are going to pay more attention to the Youthlink because if we take good pictures of things that young people would be interested in, The Gleaner might like to print them. We would be very proud if some of our pictures were printed in The Gleaner because the whole world will see our work and know good things about our communities.

We want to let people know that we in our communities are full of talent and are very creative. We want the world to know that our communities are special because they are trying very hard not to have any more crime and violence.
