King warms up in style
published: Thursday | August 3, 2006

Marlon King

LONDON, England (CMC):

Jamaican international Marlon King warmed up for his debut season in the English top flight when he netted a brace for Watford on Monday.

King, who fell out with the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) earlier this year ahead of a friendly international against England in June, scored in the sixth minute and again in the 33rd minute as Watford easily got past Danish top division side AC Horsens 4-0 in a pre-season warm-up.

The 26-year-old striker opened the scoring when he converted a cross from the right side from James Chambers and then sent the East England club 2-0 up when he hammered home after a Jordan Stewart throw-in.

Young striker Ashley Young and Tamas Priskin then netted headers to complete the rout.

Watford will make their debut in the English Premiership this season after an outstanding year in the championship last season where they finished third.

They beat Crystal Palace and Leeds in the subsequent playoffs to qualify for the Premiership.

King was the leading marksman for Watford with 22 goals.
