Dawkins
TAMPA, Florida (CMC):
Jamaica international Fabian Dawkins seized the United Soccer Leagues (USL) First Division Player-of-the-Week award for Week 15 after a pivotal performance for the Atlanta Silverbacks against Minnesota Thunder on Sunday.
Sidelined for most of the season so far because of a knee injury, Dawkins came off the bench and delivered a match-winning performance for Atlanta, logging a goal and two assists in a 3-2 win at the James Griffin Stadium.
Set up goal
Trailing Minnesota 1-0 late in the match, Dawkins, who came on eight minutes into the second half, set up Warren Ukah for the first of four goals the game saw in the final six minutes plus stoppage, to tie the game.
Minnesota went ahead again in the 88th minute through substitute Ansu Toure before some Dawkins magic dramatically won the game for the Silverbacks.
Dawkins sent a cross to the far post for Maurice Hughes to score in the 90th minute and then scored himself - his first goal of the season - in stoppage time for the narrow victory. Dawkins pounced on a pass inside the box from David Hayes and stroked the ball into the net near the back post.
Atlanta climbed to fifth place in the standings with the victory.
