Jamaica's World Junior Championships team departs the island this afternoon for Beijing, China.
Reigning 400m silver medallist Sonita Sutherland, along with Remaldo Rose and Sherene Pinnock who both pocketed bronze medals in Italy in 2004, as well as Natasha Ruddock and Schillonie Calvert who won silver and bronze at last year's World Youth Championships, head the 29-member team (14 girls and 15 boys).
The team is schedule to arrive in China on August 6th, nine days before the start of the Championships, to facilitate a training camp.
Coach Maurice Wilson said he expects some good performances from the youngsters.
"We expect the performances will be exceptional based on the talents that are available," Wilson said.
"Also, we have a very experienced management staff, so altogether we should be able to synchronise well and deliver for our country."
