Twelve teams ousted from mid-season rally
published: Tuesday | August 1, 2006

After a day of netball with 30 teams and more than 60 matches, 18 teams have advanced to the next round of the Business House Netball Association's mid-season rally.

Playing in six zones, the teams waged exciting 10-minute matches at the Leila Robinson courts on Saturday. However, rains only allowed play of the preliminary round, which saw three winners of each zone.

In group A, Open League winner General Accident finished first, followed by Knock Out winner Cable and Wireless with Lascelles in third place. National Commercial Bank 'A', Department of Correctional Services and Continental Baking Company were group B winners.

The third group saw Jamaica Broilers, National Housing Trust and National Commercial Bank 'B' advancing. In group D, Sugar Company of Jamaica, National Water Commission 'A' and Jamaica Public Service were the winners.

Open League runner-up Bank of Nova Scotia 'A' beat Grant Stewart Phillips and Maritime & Transport Services for the top spot in group E, while group F consisted of RBTT, HEART and Wisynco.

These teams will vie for the Crown Packaging and GraceKennedy Trophy.

The consolation Beverley McDonald Trophy is open to runners-up of each group, while the Carrol Christian Trophy is only available to third place winners of each group. Action will continue on Saturday, August 12.
