Putting away the political bickering
published: Tuesday | August 1, 2006

The Editor, Sir:

I totally agree that it is time for us to put away the political bickering back and forth. It is not taking my wonderful country anywhere. All the politicians have one goal and it is political loyalty, and not for the people and the country. Corruption has plagued us for a long time. We need to make laws like in America where if a political figure is corrupt, he should be tried before a judge and if found guilty, be placed in jail. Until that day, it will only get worse, because no one is responsible and when something goes wrong, they start the pointing of fingers. We are tired of that.

When will Jamaica be for Jamaicans and not be dictated to by outsiders? Don't get me wrong, we are Jamaicans and we full a' love; we love all kinds of people but when the rich outsiders come to our country and have the Government under their wings, there is a problem with that, and if you go to some of these outsiders' country and see how they treat us, I have no other option but to say what I am saying. Some countries don't even like us being in their country and we educate some of these people and so forth and yet still there is no respect, so we need to accommodate our citizens first and they should be included in every decision because they are the ones feeling the tax hike.

The moral of the story is - the people first at all times, and no one else.

I am, etc.,
