Adventists elect four regional leaders
published: Monday | July 31, 2006

Four regional leaders were elected between July 5-18, to serve three Adventist conferences and one mission in Jamaica for the next four years.

International televangelist, Pastor Glen O. Samuels, was re-elected on July 9 to serve the West Jamaica Conference consisting of the parishes of St. Elizabeth, Westmoreland, Hanover and St. James. Pastor Adrian Cotterell was re-elected on July 13 to the East Jamaica Conference consisting of the parishes of Kingston and St. Andrew and St. Thomas. Pastor Everett Brown was re-elected on July 17 as president of the Central Jamaica Conference consisting of the parishes of Manchester, Clarendon and St. Catherine.

North-east jamaica

Pastor Arlington Woodburn who previously served as executive secretary of the East Jamaica Conference was asked to serve as leader of the newly-formed North-East Jamaica Mission effective August 1. This new field arose from the action of the West Indies Union Conference Executive Commit-tee that the Jamaican fields be reorganised to form two additional fields. They are the North-East Jamaica Mission, consisting of the parishes of Portland and St. Mary, and the South Jamaica Mission, consisting of the parishes of Manchester and St. Elizabeth. While the North East Mission will become operational on August 1, the South Jamaica Mission will be organised at a later date.

"We have elected a solid team of local leaders, who we are confident will support the mission of the church and guide the workers and members into a closer relationship with God," said president of the West Indies Union Conference, Pastor Patrick Allen.
