Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) introduces transfer system for two routes
published: Tuesday | June 13, 2006

THE JAMAICA Urban Transit Company (JUTC) has introduced a transfer system for two of its hill routes in rural St. Andrew as part of an initiative to consolidate routes for greater efficiency.

Launched in April, after a community consultation, the system is operational on routes 53 and 54, which serve the Above Rocks and Lawrence tavern/Border areas, respectively.

The arrangement allows JUTC commuters travelling from these areas, to board a connecting bus in Half-Way-Tree and continue their journey in the direction of downtown via Half-Way-Tree Road without paying an extra fare. On the return journey, the passengers transfer to the hill buses on North Odeon Avenue.
