THE EDITOR, Sir
I, LIKE Joy Allen, The Gleaner June 9, am fed up with the level of belly-aching by these expatriates who claim to have the good of Jamaica at heart yet day after day exude venomous comments about the country and those who live and work here and enjoy what the island has to offer.
Ex-Jamaicans and others who abide in these so called developed countries claiming Jamaica as the zenith of crimes should begin to examine the crimes in their countries of residence. They would find that theirs is as bad or even worse.
UNAWARE OF LOCAL AFFAIRS
Do they not read their local papers, listen to the radio and watch television or is it that they are so busy gorging themselves with foreign junk food that they are oblivious to the crimes being committed around them?
I must also level some blame on our own media sources as they seek out and broadcast or publish every little negative element but fail or refuse to extol the positives of Jamaica and Jamaicans.
You can criticise, but do it constructively. Take seriously John F. Kennedy's challenge: "Ask not what your country can do for you but rather what you can do for your country."
I am, etc.,
