Gomes blasts reinstatement
published: Tuesday | June 13, 2006

GOMES

HUMAN RIGHTS lobby group Jamaicans For Justice (JFJ) says it is deeply dismayed at the reinstatement of Senior Superintendent of Police Reneto Adams to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).

According to JFJ Executive Director Dr. Carolyn Gomes, the return of SSP Adams sends the wrong signal at a time when the JCF should be trying to improve its image.

"I don't think he should be in contact with people. I don't think he should be in command of anybody else; there should be nobody under him," Dr. Gomes said. "I am very concerned because the last time Mr. Adams went out with intelli-gence as the focus we ended up with the CMU killing."
