St Catherine, Kingston in final battle

THE THREE-DAY Supreme Ventures Challenge final between St. Catherine and Kingston bowls off today at Kensington Park starting at 10:00 a.m.

League winners St. Catherine will be aiming for the League and Cup double while Kingston target their first title for a number of years.

St. Catherine defeated Melbourne on first innings in the semi-finals while the Kingston Tigers, who finished second in the league, got the better of Manchester in the same fashion in their semi.

In their drive for a second title this season, the Tamar Lambert-led team will be banking on the league's top wicket-taker Bevon Brown, who claimed 47 victims, and his spin bowling partner Odean Brown (43), along with pacer Jermaine Lawson and Oniel Richards and they could prove to be too much for the Tigers.

HEAVY SCORING

The Saints batting line-up is also capable of scoring heavily as any team with Lambert, Danza Hyatt, Dean Morgan and Keith Hibbert would be dangerous.

On the other hand, Kingston will be banking on ex-West Indies players Nehemiah Perry, who scored almost 200 runs in the semi-final against Manchester, and Roland Holder.

These two experienced players should get support from Simon Jackson, Duran White and Brian Latore in the batting department while skipper Kerry Scott, Andrew Richardson and Jowayne Robinson will provide the bulk of the bowling.
