THE EDITOR, Sir:
I READ in your paper dated April 25, that Robert Bryan is the local organiser of Cricket World Cup 2007.
I must speak of the part where it says that Bryan has been assigned to put the entertainment package together for the opening ceremony of the World Cup.
Why is this? Was this not to be put to tender? Are there not many companies and persons that can qualify for this position and task? Will his company, Grizzly's, also be the ones to provide the equipment, or will this be put to tender as well?
Why have I gone to so many cricket seminars to get work in these areas? I have worked overseas in this area and have been chosen by ABC network to produce a show for them in Jamaica this year.
I am also the owner of Electro Tech Productions, and am aware that there are also many other companies that can produce this kind of package for the World Cup.
I am not shocked by this decision as it was in my mind from the day I heard the news that Bryan resigned as a director of Grizzly's to join the cricket wagon. Grizzly's was still not far from the plate. We were told many times that all services would be tendered.
I am sure that Bryan can do this job, but I am also sure that there are other companies and persons that can sit on this committee and help Bryan to put this package together.
Why was this not tendered?
I am, etc.,
PETER SHOUCAIR J.P.
