LARGE, LONG-ESTABLISHED recording studios have had to revamp their operations in order to stay afloat as the demand for studio time has declined due to the rise of individual home-based and artiste-owned studios.
Studios such as Tuff Gong and Anchor, among other large operations which started out primarily as recording studios, have over time expanded the range of services offered.
According to Gussie Clarke, CEO, Anchor Group of Companies, "To survive as a commercial studio is extremely difficult, competitive and costly, and that is why a lot of studios have not gone that route, keeping their production strictly in-house."
