Royal Carib Bakery invests millions to upgrade plants
published: Sunday | May 21, 2006

Derrick A. Scott, Contributor

ATLANTA, Georgia:

ROYAL CARIBBEAN Bakery Caribbean Food Delights, the largest Jamaican Bakery and frozen food plant in Tappan, New York, will expand its plant by adding an additional 30,000 sq. ft. at a cost of US$12 million within the next six months.

This was disclosed by President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Bakery Caribbean Food Delights, Vincent Hosang, at the official opening of the first Jerk Q'zine Caribbean Grille, a subsidiary of Royal Caribbean Bakery Caribbean Food Delights, in Union City, Georgia, last Thursday.

Mr. Hosang stated that when the expansion is completed, this would bring the entire plant to 103,000 square feet on 10 acres of land.

"Because of the high demand for Jamaican baked products and frozen foods in the United States we had to take the decision to expand our plant."

The Royal Caribbean CEO told the large audience that Jerk Q'zine Caribbean Grille is a new concept for his company and Atlanta was the first city in the United States to have a store opened. He added that Georgia was chosen for the first restaurant because it has a strong customer base and a large Jamaican and Caribbean community.

NEW CONCEPT

According to Mr. Hosang, "My company is very pleased to bring to Union City, a suburb of Atlanta, this new concept in Caribbean fast food."

Union City, he said, was selected by his company because of the demographics, the quick service restaurant industry and the strong employment base.

Mr. Hosang announced that another store will be built in Kennesaw, Georgia, and eight additional stores will be opened throughout the U.S. He also said that this new concept will take off throughout the U.S.

The CEO pointed out that some of the unique characteristics of the restaurant will be the bright and cheerful Caribbean atmosphere.

In his remarks, Jamaica's Honorary Consul Vin Martin, said he was most pleased that Royal Caribbean Bakery decided to open its first Jerk Q'zine Caribbean Grille in Georgia. This, he said, was a step in the right direction. Mr. Martin pointed out that the Hosang's were one of Jamaica's outstanding business entrepreneurs residing the U. S. who Jamaicans could be proud of.

Jerk Q'zine Caribbean Grille is located approximately 15 minutes from the world's busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

This new Jamaican restaurant with an investment of just over $300,000, is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and will offer the finest in Jamaican cuisine.
