Art explosion today!

TODAY MARKS the 3rd anniversary of the LIGUANEA FESTIVAL OF FINE ART & PHOTOGRAPHY taking place at Liguanea Plaza from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. This event brings together over 50 of Jamaica's top photographers and artists in person, all of whom will be exhibiting their latest works to the public, in what is fast becoming the premier art event of the year.

The stage has been set to host the largest and most comprehensive show of photographs, drawings, paintings, sculpture, ceramics, jewellery and mixed media ever assembled in Jamaica for a one-day exhibition. This is the ideal opportunity for art collectors, enthusiasts, art lovers and students to meet their favourite artist and photographer in person, and to view and discuss their latest pieces and techniques. It's also a time to purchase that masterpiece you've always wanted, as every exhibit will be on sale.

A full day of art activities will include workshops in calligraphy, pottery, painting on fabric, ceramic and glass, tie dye, and papermaking. Special activities have been planned for the children throughout the day. Andy Jefferson, artist, guitarist and vocalist, will entertain throughout the day at intervals, while Leslie Sherman will provide background music for your listening pleasure.

Participating artists and photographers are Richard Atkinson, Ireko Baker, Trevor Beaumont, Paul Blackwell, Alfanso Blake, Cleve Bowen, Clovis Brown, Carol Campbell, Webster Campbell, Kereina Chang Fatt, Stefan Clark, Lennox Coke, Mabusha Dennis, Kacey Ferguson, Sharon Fox-Mould, Jeremy Francis, Devon Garcia, Amanda Gibson, Betty Glanville, Christopher Gonzalez, Richard Hall, Myrth Hall-Butler, Devon Harvey, Marcia Henry, Bernard Stanley Hoyes, Dave Hutchinson, Nakazzi Hutchinson, Beverly Jackson, Ray Jackson, Andy Jefferson, Dahlia Jones, Shakira Khan, Michael Layne, Vivienne Logan, Patsy Mair, Franz Marzouca, Damaris Mayne, Ewan McAnuff, Margaret McGhie, Howard Moo Young.

Other exhibitors are Tukula Ntama, Gene Pearson, Peter Peart, Shanti Persaud, Everard Powell, Ken Ramsay, Tiffany Recas, Sonia Richards, John & Sylvia-Joy Scott, David & Allison Sinclair, Solomon Sinclair, Paul Smith, Kay Sullivan, Phillip Supersad, Fitzroy Symister, Jean Taylor-Bushay, Richard "Kibo" Thompson, Juliet Thorburn, Errol Walker, Akiwali & Donavan "Danny" Walters,, Carol Watson, Phyll Williams, Tony Wong and Hugh Wright. Several of these artists will be exhibiting as part of the Guild of Artists. Other club exhibitors are the UWI Camera Club and the Just Black & White Photography Club.

Special catering provided by Chez Maria (Mediterranean cuisine), ViHope (Vegetarian dishes), and Mark Anthony's Catering (Local fare) will awaken your appetite, as you feast your eyes and open your minds. For your convenience, parking facilities are available at 27 Munroe Road, Photo Express, Scotiabank parking lot, and Hope Gospel Assembly (after 1 p.m.). Security will be provided.
